You are responsible for understanding and knowing the MPA boundaries and fishing regulations. You MUST complete your own research and understand the laws. NOBODY else can tell you where the boundaries are and what the rules are. Information on this page is provided as a courtesy. Check the DFG website for additional information or updates. Below is information on the most common reserves but it is not an exhaustive list of MPAs in San Diego County or Southern California.

Despite vociferous objections, the new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are now in effect for Southern California. Information regarding these reserves is taken from the Department of Fish and Game, "Guide to the Southern California Marine Protected Areas". This information is periodically updated but may be out of date!
